what type of potatoes do you use for your potato salad?

I have one recipe that uses baby Yukon golds and another german style that used red. For 4th of july I will get a mix of red, blue and white potatoes. I almost never use regular russet potatoes anymore

  • I'll use what ever I have as long as they're hard and not soft or growing! But baby reds could be nice! Yukon golds are just too costly our way. This year I had DH plant some growing ones here. We'll see what if we get any.. Your idea sounds Great!! I'm sure anything you make will turn out perfect!

  • red them and they do not need to be peeled. Also like Maine potatoes, but do not see them much in the stores.

  • I like the red ones when I cook smoke neck bones. I like Idaho for potato salad.

  • Yukon Golds. The russets/Idahos are too mealy for anything that needs good texture.
