  • Yes, my kids went to a mediocre public school and several kids went on to fabulous colleges. They were the ones with the most involved parents, took all the advanced placement classes, and were involved in several activities.

  • Yes. I grew up in a po dunk town in Arkansas and there was a girl a few years older than me that went to Yale. It was a pretty big deal since almost everyone either just started working out of high school or went to the University of Arkansas.

  • sure....I think ALOT of the success a child has in school is based on PARENTAL involvement. If you are there with them every night doing homework and activities they are more likely to to well. Get involved with the school as well....do educational things outside of school--visit museums, cultural centers, encourage art, music....make it fun...volunteer....you get the idea. Grades are important to getting into a challenging University but so is having a well-rounded child. They look for the "whole package".

  • sure- but keep in mind that a Harvard education does not automatically mean a better life.
a person could get a great education at many colleges.
I'd just make sure they are accredited though-

  • Of course! As long as they do their best and make good grades. Where you come from has nothing to do with the person and the person they're going to be.
