Would you be disapointed?(my poor dh)

I just got a phone call saying that my dh is working till 10pm. The poor guy works at a prison,12 hour shifts. He has already been there since 6am. When they decided that he has to stay,he has no choice.gets no OT. He becomes a prisoner himself.

  • No overtime? Does that mean he is salaried? Even so, most places give some comp time!

  • Sounds like the same 'position' I'm in, so if I want to keep my job, I shut up and do it.

  • That suck. My dad started off as a prison guard and worked WAY up into the Federal Prison system. He told me about days like that, especially in the beginning. They work you to death sometimes. However...once you put in enough time like that, you can work your way up and it usually pays off. Just try to be as supportive as possible, even though I know you must be disappointed. My husband often works late, and I hate it, but I know that he isn't enjoying it either, so I try to be as positive as possible about it.

  • No OT! This is a shame. My husband actually is in the same situation - different job- but he frequently works extra hours and gets no OT.

  • He's been there for 5 years. It's not easy to be supportive:( Thanks for the replys. I am inspired to be more supportive. He hates the prison.
