Why do parents do this?

Are you one of those parents that allow there toddler walk around a store without holding your hands and letting them leave your site. Allow your young child walk 10 ft behind you in parking lots?

  • No, if my children are walking with out holding my hand, they are always in front of me, so I can see them at all times.

  • My daughter knows she has to hold my hand, or get in the cart, and she hates the cart.

  • I held my daughter's hand the other day while walking through a casino to go to the cocacola store. And she is 12. I thought I might lose her in the crowd.

  • I let my son walk around without holding my hand and he is 2 and a half. He is always close to me and I always have my full attention on him..if I can't have my full attention on him then my boyfriend does.

I would certainly not let him walk behind me in a parking lot...or run around a store without seeing me..but I do give him the freedom to move.
