  • I personally gave juice minimally. Especially if my son ate the baby fruits. But I gave him 1 thing of baby food about 3-4 times a day. He may not have at it all but I atleast tried during my meal times. I started him off with the veggies since they are harder to like. He disliked the peas so I snuck them in each bite of whatever I was giving him.
I dont give him juice daily because of the high sugar content, and milk has more nutrients. I am not a health freak but I just want him to get a good start. I also highly reccomend the fruit/veggie juices. Gerber has like apple carrot, and there is V8 splash. My son loves them. And even motts baby apple juice, has less sugar.

  • I still don't give my 9 month old juice. When he was having trouble pooping I added an oz of prune juice to his 8 oz bottle. But I give him his formula and/or water in a straw cup. I learned it is easier to give them a straw cup from the beginning rather than a traditional sippy cup, they don't have to tip up a straw sippy cup. But at 6 months I just fed my boys solids 2 times a day. They started on solids at 5 months.

  • No juice until at least 12 mos. It is pretty much just empty calories and sugar. Start by feeding solids one a day and gradually increase up to 3 times a day following baby's lead.

  • At 6 months I only gave my son food 1 time a day - at lunch time. I gave about 1/4 cup of homemade puree. He usually didn't eat all that but I offered it. I gave water in a sippy then too. We won't be giving him juice for a while. And we didn't start milk until he turned 1. He is 12 months now.

  • At 6 months I was giving three meals a day.  I guess it depends when you started solids.  I started at 5 months at 1 meal a day.  I never gave any of my children juice until they were 4 or 5 years old.

  • I think by the time my son was 6 months old he was getting solids twice a day, typically cereal or oatmeal in the morning and a veggie at night. Once we did the veggies, we moved to the fruits. I can't remember when I started giving him juice. Probably around the same time because some of the baby food can constipate the baby so I would give him heavily diluted prune or pear juice.

My daughter is 5 months old and gets about half a jar every night or every other night. I don't have any immediate plans to start juice.

  • We are just now working up to more than one meal a day. Sometimes dd will eat up to half a jar of veggie or fruit, sometimes only a bite or two. She only gets a teaspoon of cereal a day and sometimes we try meat but that isn't going over so well so far, she doesn't like the texture I think.
