What do I use to paint a plain wood shelf?

I was gonna use Wood Finish (walnut), but I have a fear of doing it wrong. I bought it awhile ago, so I should just jump in and do it. Do I need to use primer before I put the Wood Finish on it?

  • Just sand it down a little if at all get an old rag dip in to a nice wood stain and just wipe one coat....then do a second and it will al blend in real nice.
