any1 kno how 2 keep a 12'X30" pool clean w/out spendin $1000s on chemicals?

were a very low income family n my lil girl wanted a pool soooooooooo bad so i splurged n bought her a pool on sale 4 100$ i figured it was a great deal n couldnt pass it up. its been up 4 2 weeks now n all ive bn usin is chlorine tabs in a floater. well we havent bn home in 2 days n now our pool is slowly but surely turnin green. some1 help pls!

  • i think you can use baking soda....i bought a big bag for backing and it had a bunch of info about pools......

  • Are you using a pool filter? Use a bag of shock & run your filter for about 2 hours. Keep your floater full of chlorine.

  • Does the pool have a filter? Green is alge, alge grows when there is poor circulation and low chlorine levels in the pool. Liquid chlorine is the quickest way to clear a green pool. If you have alge growing visibly on the sides of the pool you will need to add algecide. Smaller pools are so hard to keep clean because of the poor filtration systems they come with. You can always just drain it and start over.

  • My friend bought one of those smaller above ground pools from Wal-Mart and then they bought a pool pump to keep it clean. The pool pump is more expensive than the pool though =(
