  • Build a dollhouse out of various boxes, decorate it with craft supplies, and build furniture for the house. Make paper dolls and paper doll clothes. Do easy sewing projects - small pillows, aprons, or bags are pretty easy. Paint pictures. Do latch-hook, cross-stitch, crochet, or knitting. Decorate small boxes to hold her "treasures". Make jewelry.

  • Wow there are all kinds of things to craft with that age! There are lots of kits at the craft store for that age. Some fun crafts we've done include making pony bead animals, fuse bead shapes, jewelry, painting decorations for their room, pom pom creatures, sewing simple things like stuffed monsters, dolls, pillows. They can learn how to quilt, sew, cross stitch, loom weaving, mosaic, knit, crochet, embroidery, t shirt decorating, ornaments, the ideas are limitless! and so many using recylcled stuff and projects online.

  • If they still sell the potholder kits, those are easy and fun to make! Also, I always loved cross stitch as a child.

  • Card making! It's so versatile and can be as flash or as humble as you like.

Eight is a perfect age to root a life long love of crafting!
