If a body was found in front of your kids summer school, would you still send them while the cops and whatnot were still there? Or would you let them stay home that day?

This is from a local news story. There was a female body found this morning wrapped in bags outside of a local school. Right now there are summer school classes going on in that same school, but classes weren't canceled today. I think I would be a little uncomfortable sending my kids to summer school with a big investigation going on like this right outside - plus, how much are they really going to learn with all this going on? I'm not one to find reasons for my kids to stay home, but I think a dead body on campus works as a good reason!

  • Yeah I wouldn't make them go. How can they keep the school open while there is an investigation going on? Couldn't kids coming in and out effect the "crime scene" ?

  • nope they would s tay home as i have no desire to 1. traumatize them, and 2. explain the whole thing to them.
that school is ridiculous btw, and if i were parent there I would be mad as heck.

  • You would think so... But they kept it open. So I guess they thought they had everything roped off well enough. But I still think it's a bit odd to have students there while they are investigating. The body wasn't even gone til after classes started...

  • This is a little disconcerting. As a teacher, I would have a hard time keeping my focus too. I'm not sure this is one of those "teachable moments" we want. Yikes!!!!!
