kittens

my kittens are 3 months old and i wanted to know if it is okay to use flea powder on them?

  • Ask a vet, almost nothing over the counter is safe to use before 12 weeks. Do you have fleas? I've washed very young kittens in dish soap and then picked fleas off with tweesers, seemed to work pretty well until they were 12 weeks. Flea powder is not very effective either. A good shampoo and a spot on treatment. With kittens that young though you want to talk to a vet, they shouldn't charge ou for advice.

  • most products are safe for kittens over 6 weeks, but some products say to wait until after 12 weeks. The package should say what age is appropriate, if it doesn't, it's usually safe for any age

  • Use dawn dish soap to give them a bath. You may need to repeat several days in a row until the fleas are all gone.
