  • no, I think their parents should

yes, they sit in a seat, there should be a fee

  • If they are taking up their own seat then YES. If they are small enough to sit on your lap, then no. But you fill a seat, you pay for a seat!

  • Yes, there shoul dbe a fee for them as long as they are taking up a seat. Maybe a discounted rate would be nice though.

  • LOL @ peanutsmommy1's answer! A child taking up a seat is not any different than an adult taking up a seat. If children flew for free, the airlines would be taking enormous pay-cuts. If you don't want to pay for your child's seat, have them sit in your lap the whole flight.

  • I am not aware of any airline that wll allow a child older than 2 to fly on your lap, you must pay for them.

  • Yes.. they are occupying a seat..

  • I seat is a seat no matter who sits in it. So yes they should charge. Charging less for a child while it make it nice for the parents it would cause the airloine to 'loose money' on that ticket since that seat could have been just as easily sold to another adult.

  • If they are occupying a seat, then yes their parents should have to pay for it. We'll be traveling next summer with two 2 year olds and I have no issue paying for two extra seats. Primairly because I can't fathom holding on to a toddler for hours at a time while cooped up on a plane. And it's not safe. It's better to bring their car seats (which do NOT count as carry ons) and strap them in. Most if not all airlines now have the latch system in their planes.
