Making Mint candies...how do I get them more chewie and less chalky ??

The recipe I use calls for 2 egg whites and 500 g powdered sugar + the peppermint flavoring.

What can I add to make them smoother like taffy?

  • There are some that are made with butter or cream cheese, powdered sugar and peppermint. I have never made them before but they are very good. Here is a recipe at /allrecipes.com//Recipe/cream-cheese-mints/Detail.aspx">allrecipes.

  • i'm pretty sure it's all about the temp it gets up to. I would use another recipe that tells you what temp you should cook it til.

  • This doesn't get heated at all.....you whip the egg till they are stiff, then add flavoring and powdered sugar and mix . Roll to "snakes" and slice and then just let them dry.....I loke to press a chocolate chip ontop.

  • I should add, that these are not really chewy but they melt in your mouth.
