Do you realize they are shrinking the containers of your favorite treats?

Ice cream, yogurt, coffee and other products are shrinking in size. The companies are giving us less and less food in the containers. Have you noticed this when buying your favorite products in the supermarket?

  • And when you buy "Family Size" you get the original amount in a bigger container. So you don't actually get more, but you pay more for the extra air. Yea, it's all another way for them to get more money.
In the case that you explain it's so you buy more, more often. In the case that I explained it's so you're fooled into thinking you get more, but you're not.

  • Ice cream companies did this a while back, where most half gallons are not.

My grocery store usually has the price per ounce (or whatever unit), so I compare brands that way.

  • with some things, yes. with others it says 25% more free so i guess it depends on what it is you're buying

  • The prices are doing up and the companies are down sizing on the product sizes/amounts.

  • Yep. Earth Balance used to be 16oz and it was easy to cut it up in to cups for baking but now it's 15oz. That drives me nuts.

  • Pay attention to "price per ounce" and don't get ripped off. ;)

  • I noticed the portions go down before the containers started, but yes.
It all started with a Reeces cup.
Then I noticed alll kinds of crap... the holes in the top of soap bottles get bigger so people would use them faster..
It won't stop at this. We are being screwed every which way.
