We may be selling our home

We've never been thru this before. What kind of things do we need to do around the house?

  • Declutter - remove any personal items. The buyers want to be able to imagine their photos on the walls and tables. No knick-knacks...same reason as photos.

If you have some funky colors - neutralize your walls to a cream.
Clean, clean, clean. That means drawers, closets, floors, corners, baseboards, etc too.

Make sure that if you have a cat, you can't smell it.
The front of the house should look great. Yard trimmed, no chipped paint on the door, clean windows, etc.
Baking cookies before a showing is a great way to make the house smell great.

  • Contact a realtor. S/he will be able to walk you through the process. If you're in SoCal, I know a good one.
