What to do if Landlord won't take care of the problem?

  • First of all it depends upon the problem. You don't want to create a problem to fix a problem. If you have a lease that says certain things should be taken care of by the landlord, then you may have recourse that way. If you fix it yourself, you may be able to deduct it from the rent but that is contingent with a lease and you may have to get permission from your landlord since it is his property and if something by chance goes wrong you won't be liable for any damages.
