Back to school clothes

do you buy new or consignment or both.

For us this year it will be mostly Consignment. Normally it's mostly new this year, not so much.

  • As long as children have what they need, it just doesn't matter if it's new, consignment, thrift store, garage sale, or hand-me-down.

  • I buy both

  • I usually buy new but off the clearance racks.

Answer by May-20 at 5:09 PM on Jul. 15, 2010

  • I buy both. We are in school uniforms so whatever still fits and isn't stained from last yr rolls over too. They each get at least one new outfit even if they can wear all the old ones. New shoes for school and gym. New socks.

  • uniforms here: I started hunting the thrift stores when school ended and am redoing some of ds old pants etc. into shorts and/or capris. Will buy new shirts and a couple of skorts for dd....

however am seriously on the hunt for khaki indestructible pants (ds TORE ALL of his to shreds last year -- hence the shorts/capri conversion)

  • MamJaAyla, I gave up on the khaki uniform pants. Sometimes I'm lucky and find the beige toughskin jeans at Sears. Luckily we have the option of Khaki or Navy blue...I can usually find the blue in toughskins. my grandson lives on his knees and they are a life saver.

  • I usally buy new but like another mom said I only shop clearence racks

Answer by Divagod at 2:33 AM on Jul. 16, 2010

  • I volunteer at a thrift store and I get dibs on the things that come in...I do that plus I get things on clearance and on sale
I would never pay full price unless I was desperate ( like my son spills on his pants and we to buyan emergency pair)
