Would You Convert for Your SO?

Saw this in one of my groups ... would you convert to another religion for your SO? Should they convert for you?

  • No, I wouldn't compromise or change what I believe for anyone. I wouldn't expect anyone to convert for me either.

  • Hell no! My DH and I both knew we had a difference in beliefs when we got together... There was never a second either of us thought - Hmm, I bet I could get him/her to convert. Never! If we couldn't deal with the differences, we would have never gotten together.

  • No. And I didn't.

My husband of 25 years is a Sikh.. And I do not follow any organized religion. He's always respected my views and beliefs, and I've always respected his.

  • The way I see it is when you enter a relationship..you should know what each others view are on religion until you get in too deep. You have to decide before you even take it to another level if you are ok with each others' religion. You can't expect someone to convert or even want them to. If that is a decision they make then that is fine. But someones religion and the choices they make are their own and no one should dictate the way the should believe.
