I got the what?

I was kinda sorta but not really thinking about changing to cloth diapering. But I was put over on board today when I saw a great deal on a bunch on new prefolds. So I bought them but I don't know what else to buy. I'm sure I need pins to keep them closed and I think I'll need liners, what else do I need? What else do I need to do? Any tips?

  • Snappis instead of pins.
We really like Thirsties diaper covers

Here is how to fold a prefold - we use the angel fold

  • They have these cool clip things so you don't have to use pins. I can't think of what they are called but I bet you could google the,. And you will need the plastic cover things.

  • You need covers, and I would recommend sappis instead of pins... or just use the covers to keep them in place.

You'll also need to decide what kind of detergent you want to use (check out the detergent chart at

You don't really need liners... I've never used them.

Cloth wipes are nice, too :)

That's all I can think of for now.

  • I learned everything from the prefolds I got they recommended washing and drying them a few times before use to shrink the cloths. I can't find liners around here and haven't used them.

  • You don't mean Gerber prefolds from WalMartz, do you? If so, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Those aren't meant to be used as diapers, just burp rags. Use real Chinese or Indian prefolds from one of the websites the previous answers have mentioned. Otherwise you've gotten some awesome advice. :)

  • I meant to say I got them from a thrift store. They are good ones I think. The brand was icky baby and some were swaddle designs.
