  • It sounds like your dog has ear mites. The meds from the vet are about

  • you can use a little peroxide to help clean his ears out. It only takes about a capful for each ear. I have had to do this for my dog a couple times and it helps her a lot.

  • If you use peroxide, make sure you dilute it with a capfull of water. Peroxide is okay for human ears, but dog ear flesh is thinner and more sensitive. If you use straight peroxide, you run a chance of damaging the dog's ear.

If he is shaking and growling and itching a lot its probably more likely its ear mites. Smell his ears, do they stink? Is the wax build up black? Those are all signs of ear infection and mites.

Take him to a vet, he will give you some meds to kill the mites.

  • If the build up is dark it could be ear mites or a bacterial infection. If the build up is more yellow, than it is a yeast infection. Either way until you can get to the vet to get the correct meds for the ear infection clean his ears with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. I have done this with my dogs many times and it helps clean the ears and disturbs the ph balance of the ear and can help "cure" the infection...but they still need the meds to get rid of the infection deep in their ear. But the vinegar should help calm and soothe it til you can get to the vet.
