What is the big deal about lifting a heavy box in pregnancy?

Just curious? what can it do?

  • Strain things you don't want strained which will cause pain

  • Too much pressure can possibly pull something and cause problems.. You can lift just be careful doing it.

  • Aside from the risk of involuntarily peeing yourself...lol it can put additional strain on your back muscles as well as the ligaments and tendons surround your hips, and uterus. It's just not the best of things, but I was told not to lift my kids during my 4th pregnancy and sometimes I just didn't have a choice. It's all in moderation. Excessive weight lifting or things like that can be dangerous for your and put the baby into fetal distress.

  • You can rupture something inside and begin to bleed or put yourself into a premature labor. This is really not a good idea especially if the box is really heavy.

  • At the beginning of the pregnancy, strain can cause a miscarriage too.

  • def agree with mamaniecey, I'm on bed rest because of shortning cervix and they said no sex and no heavy lifting, it must do somethign to cause premature labor or stess on your body.
