When did you start feeding your child table foods?

I have a 9 month old daughter and although I have 2 other kids, it seems like I have forgotten everything since they were this age. I can't get her to eat her baby food very often any more all she wants is my food, should I just give up and give her more table foods? She has 5 teeth so far and seems to be eating ok, it just seems so young lol she started walking a month ago so wouldn't surprise me if she did everything else fast... what are your thoughts?

  • You can for sure give her table foods. As soon as my daughter was 4 months I started giving her rice cereal, as she got older I tried more and more different things. Now she is 11 months old and she will eat a little of whatever I'm eating. Just make sure the pieces are small enough and it's cooked enough.

  • I don't like baby food either ;o)

I did not use baby food at all with my second. If what we were eating was not suitable for her then I would make plain pasta and veggies.

  • My daughter flat out refused to eat baby food. I tried and tried, lol. I would say by 7 months, I just gave up and cut up our table food as tiny as possible and gave her that. She gobbled it up like she never ate before, lol. I guess some babies prefer the "real" thing.

  • I started as soon as she could chew. She wanted "big people food" anyway, she refused to eat her baby food or let me feed her!

  • At 9 months my oldest did the same thing. Go with it. We over cooked her food, cut it up really small and she ate it all up.

  • Thanks for the responses I have been feeding her both mainly to get rid of what I have left over she just likes everything I eat so much I feel bad feeding her baby food.. I wouldn’t eat it either lol
I just remember being told forever ago it feels like now that they should have a certain number of teeth before they eat, couldn’t remember how many or if it mattered. I cut it pretty small, can’t complain if my 9 month old likes spinach over baby food hehe
    Thanks again!

  • At our 9 month appointment, the pediatrician said less baby food, more table food. So started giving her table food shortly after.

  • At around 8 months we started table foods. I didn't offer meats until about 9.5 months though. Although I never gave "baby food" I always made it for him - but I did do purees in the very beginning, but not for long.

  • We started mashing up fruits and vegetables at around 7 months.

  • My kids all started getting tastes at like 5 months.  My youngest was self feeding at 7 months and completely off baby food by 9 months (just table food and formula after that).
