  • Crappy car, nice house. My aunt and uncle have been driving the same cars for the past 20 years, yet they have a gorgeous house that has a theater room, game room, a basement that has a playroom and bedrooms for their grandchildren whenever they come to stay, etc. They worked hard and saved their money and were able to pay cash for their house. They saved several thousands of dollars by keeping the cars they had.

  • Cars only depreciate but homes (generally) appreciate and you can take deductions.

  • I'll take whatever is available. But if we have something and it works what 's the point of wanting a new or better if it only puts us all in deeper debt??

  • Crappy car, nice house. My SO is a mechanic so he would be able to help with the car!

  • Assuming neither was outside my means, I would pick a house over a car

  • Right now we have a crappy house and one nice car (family car) and one crappy car (hubby just drives it to work and home). We are looking to buy a house right now that will be nicer than where we are living, but not beyond our means. So, I'd say decent house and car. lol. A safe car is important to me.
