Why is it that Movie Star and Professional Ball players...

get paid millions of dollars a year plus major perks and benefits. More than the President even!(except maybe perks) What do they do exactly to 'earn' all this money. They are playing. Playing, while People work their @sses making min wage with hardly any benefits. This will never make sense to me ever. You are welcome to try.

  • It's a mystery to me too.

  • because they're HUGE & bring in LOTS MORE money than you could ever imagine. In order to get good players & actors, they have to pay up if they want them. No actor is going to make a movie if it won't pay much. Movies & sports bring in so much money, that they actually can afford to pay them this much money & the actors/players know this & expect it. The beauty of being famous! The reason the president doesn't make as much money is because he works for the government...

  • Because those working their asses off pay them. They go to the movies in hoards and spend their hard-earned dollars on dvds. We consume products marketed by sports and movie companies. It's not a mystery. If we stopped consuming, they would not be paid as much. But we like to be entertained.

  • Well because they bring in that kind of money...if people don't want them to make that kind of have to stop going to their games and movies, stop renting their movies or stop watching them on TV. WE pay them. It's one of the many great things about our nation. It may not seem fair to some, but many of those people have worked hard to get where they are....and well, I'm just fine with that :)

  • They are "brand marketing" tools. Because of their talents, fans are willing to pay "whatever" to see them perform. Why do certain colleges recruit certain high school athletes and give them full scholarships? Because they project a positive image to the school and team they're on. The same goes for professional athletes. And then sponsors want to promote their image for endorsements of certain products.

Just look at Tiger Woods' fall from grace. He had MULTI-million dollar endorsement contracts with the likes of Buick, American Express, Nike, etc...all because of the "wholesome" and "top notch positive image" he created for himself...and look at how quickly those sponsors dropped him, as soon as the scandal broke. Non one wants to be associated with negative press!!

  • As long as we pay to see them, they will continue to earn a lot of money.

  • I am with you on this. It doesn't make sense to me either. Making millions to play is sick!!!. It shows how warped society is now.

  • I ask the same question, maybe because the people paying them that much will make double that much.
