  • cloth...

a rag is extra fabric, material, or ripped towels used for outdoor dirty work, like car washing or for wiping hands after changing oil, etc.

  • I've always called it a wash cloth, but my grandparents called it a wash rag- which reminded me of used menstrual pads and grossed me out.

  • Wash cloth. If I hear rag, I think of something that is used in a garage while working on a car or something like that.
