The Essene Gospel of Peace? I keep finding who translated it but I can't seem to find who the original author was. Any ideas?

  • that's kind of like asking who the author of the dead sea scrolls was.

  • Well for the most part we know who wrote most of the books of the Bible (both old and new testament). I am just wondering if there is any idea who wrote this.

  • Actually, we DON'T know who really wrote the bible. We only know the names that were put on the books. The gospel of Mark wasn't written BY Mark, but in honor of him. The first 5 books of the O.T. were supposedly written by Moses. Yet his death is described in detail in the final book. Ghost-writing?? We have a long series of believers--priests, monks, scribes, and so forth--who transcribed these books over and over. We can't even be certain that what is written on the copy we have is the same as what was on the original copy. And it is pointless to speculate about who MIGHT be the original author, because we will never really know.

  • Here is a link regarding the Book of Peace
As a pp said, there is no way to know who wrote it.
That it was found in the Vatican archives shows it has been hidden from public for over 2000 years...on purpose.
