how long does it takes to get some children after doing your homestudy

  • if you are referring to foster care, it depends on what stipulations you've placed and your area. If you've said you'll take any child, any sex, any age, any background, they've probably dropped somebody off since you've posted. If you've said you'll only take a female child under the age of one, well, it could be a while.

  • After our license was completed, we got calls immediately, but held off for a month because of a trip we had planned and I didn't want any child to be with us, respite, then us again. When we got back, we got our first placement right away and she stayed for 4 months before going to a suitable relative. Within 2 hours, our next placement came, and another 11 days after that. We adopted one and one went home. Even though we were licensed for 6, we held ourselves down to the # we could actually handle. Since we took in babies, we had fewer. It really depends on the situation and each case is different. Each caseworker, judge, attorney, etc. are all different and have views based on their own experiences & beliefs. So there really are no 2 similar cases.
