How many arm reps should I do?

My upper arms are very out of shape and need to be toned. I do have a little set of 5lb weights. How many reps should I begin with on a daily basis?

  • A lot if you're just using those. I do 3 sets of 8-12 with 50-60lbs 3 times a week and my arms are OK but could be better. Think about what you lift on a daily basis; stuff like bags of groceries, gallon bottles like water or milk, children, baskets of laundry. All heavier than 5lbs. You should use enough weight to challenge yourself. If you're not struggling by the twelfth rep then you're not doing any good.
