How do you make a good Monte Cristo sandwich?

i love them, but i have trouble finding a resturant that serves them. anyone know a great Monte Cristo recipe?

  • It's been awhile since I made one. I used to cook in a few restaurants that served them. I'm pretty sure it's french toast. ((I put a little vanilla extract in my french toast mix, but you don't have to.)) Fry some ham and turkey on a different pan. I would melt swiss cheese over the ham and turkey once it's cooked. Then put the sandwich together. I worked somewhere that they did the same, but put a hamburger patty in it too. Every diner in our area serves them... maybe they do in your area too?

  • I found this one...it lists a different kind of cheese, but I'm sure you could use cheddar instead.

  • sounds good, but the one i grew up eating had ham and turkey and was made on like a french toast type bread, and had swiss and i believe cheddar cheese. just not quite sure how to put it all together.

  • I love getting them at disneyland, The had french toast bread with ham and turkey and swiss cheese only and it was deep fried with a blue berry dripping sauce....OMG the best ever!!

  • I grew up eating these. My Mom always made them. Three slices of "french bread" Turkey , white cheese - GRILLED. They are fabulous
