Head Start?

I know they send out letters if your child has been accepted, but do they send out if they've been rejected? It's driving me crazy not knowing if my son has been accepted into the program or not. I'm hoping he gets in so he can get additional help with his speech therapy.

  • I got a phone call. I think they call or send a letter out either way. Good luck!

  • I got rejection letters yesterday. :-(
I'm sure it's different for each school, though. Go ahead and call, it won't hurt anything. I hope your LO gets in!

  • Thanks. I just tried calling, but no answer so I will try again later. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I was assured by ECI, the ARD committee (they are the ones who evaluated my son to see if he needed speech therapy) and even the administrator for Head Start that he would be automatically accepted into HS if he was accepted into ARD (and he was). But when I filled out his application, the counselor (?) I worked with acted like she wasn't sure. So I've been on pins & needles this entire time waiting and I know letters have gone out.

  • Update: I just called again (finally someone was there, LOL) and my son qualified for Head Start. :) They haven't determined yet if he'll be able to get in for full day (my first choice), but at least he'll be able to go. They said letters for his school will go out later this week or next week and that will have his schedule on it. I am so relieved. :)
