How can you get ice tea stains out of a container?

We have an ice tea maker and we make ice tea a lot. Unfortunately all the containers get stained with tea and I have the hardest time removing the ice tea stains. I tried scrubbing the container with the rough side of the sponge and that removed some of the stain but it also left scratch marks all over the containers. Does anyone know how to remove ice tea stains? Thanks.

  • I like to fill the containers with very hot water, pour in a little bit of bleach and a little bit of dish soap, set aside and let it soak over night..usually the stains are gone by morning!

  • I've heard hot water and salt, or vinegar, or lemon juice works.

  • I've soaked containers in a solution of vinegar and water. It seems to take most of the stains out of plastic pitchers and containers.
