While it has its problems, there is a good reason for it. Without it, there would be no reason for people in small population states or rural areas to vote at all. The people on the East and West coast who live in large, crowded cities would have all the say.
From what I've seen on CM, many people who live in the city have no idea the issues of rural areas. Many seem to have disdain for people who live in "flyover" country. They don't see that city life cannot be maintained without the rural support. Some "city people" have made incredibly arrogant, bigoted remarks, and I certainly wouldn't want them to make decisions about the wheat farmer in ND.
