  • I have the Maytag Neptune front loading washer/dryer set. I paid $2000 for the set 8 years ago, and haven't had ANY problems yet! And with 3 boys (including my husband), whose clothes get very dirty, sandy, sweaty and all around icky at times, I endorse it!! LOL :o)

  • Kenmore, plain jane stuff, about $700, they've outlasted my mom's expensive brand name stuff - she's on her 3rd set and mine's about 6 years old. She does laundry for 2, I do laundry for 6, and our stuff is a LOT dirtier - I'm harder on my machines and they outlast!

  • I have a Maytag set, top loading washer, that I bought over 15 years ago. I probably paid around $800 for them back then. They are still going strong. I had to have the belt in the dryer replaced last year, the repairman told me that my set will last forever, they were made when things were still made to last.

  • I have an LG 2301 model front loading pair, purchased in January from Home Depot to replace my 13 year old Whirlpool top loading washer/dryer. They were on sale, I paid just under $1500 plus tax. They save me $60 a month or more so far on my power bill, so they'll pay for themselves EASILY in 2 years.

I did all my research before buying. These were rated in the top 7 by Consumer Reports on overall function/noise level/cleaning ability, and rated #1 for reliability (# of repairs).

  • I have a Kenmore matched pair (gas dryer & top loading washer) and they were about $450/pair 17 years ago. They weren't expensive, don't have all the bells & whistles, but they do the job they're designed to do and do it well.
