There's yet another gay marriage argument in P&CE, and the recurring age old theme is coming up about religion (whereby they mean Christianity except then they know they'll be called out about Judaism and Islam) "owning" marriage. Why is it so hard for people to accept the proof (not the faith, the actual solid proof) that marriage existed for thousands of years pre-biblically, especially when there are written records and carvings and drawings that prove it? Do they think people in Africa and Asia never married before anyone migrated to the Middle East (which had to happen in order for biblical times to occur)?Answer Question

It IS a fact that there are OTHER civilizations and traditions that pre-dates Christianity As you can see, sometimes people get pretty darn defensive when presented with historical facts.
