Tipping the hairdresser?

When you go get a haircut - or get your children's haircut, do you tip? And if so, how much??

  • "A Tip is SUPPOSED to be based on service and well done job. IT IS NOT MANDATORY! If they want to make good money they need to do different work!"

your right a tip is suppose to be based on services, but legally our tips are our wages in most cases. Even with the IRS. When people start to treat hairstylists with the respect due to them (as professionals), then it wouldn't be such an issue. And hunny, no we don't need to do different work if we want more money.. we just have to play the game to become successful. It's more work, but in the end worth it. Eventually if you have talent you can weed out the Bad tippers and clients and have yourself a full book. So while it's not mandatory for you to tip me, I also don't have to keep you for a client. Typically those who don't tip are more likely to never be fully satisfied with their stylist.
