  • Or use them to store craft supplies.

The other idea you could do is if they are still good enough to put food in and you have lids if make those kits. Like cookie mix in a jar. Or soup in a jar. Where you put all of the dry ingredients of a recipe in the jar with the copy of the recipe. You can then give them out as gifts to people. They look neat. Sort of like sand jars except with food. Here is a link for cookies in a jar:

  • I use mine to store dry goods ... pasta, rice, beans, flour, sugar, etc. They look really nice on an exposed shelf.

  • I like the storage idea ... I think I'll steal it and use it myself!

  • Make Jar Candles with the kids! They are really really easy to make and lots of fun for kids.

  • My mom lives in the country, and pretty much has a country style, so she uses her mason jars as drinking glasses.
If you have a father, husband, brother, neighbor, or anyone that does a lot of woodworking/house repairs you can donate them. You screw the lids to a 2 by 4 and fill the jars with screws, bolts, washers, etc. Unscrew the jar from the lid when you need something and screw it back on when you don't.

You can also make dry cookie mix to sell or give away.

I also agree with using them to store dry goods.

  • I was thinking the same thing Jazz was. You can make Christmas gifts with dry hot chocolate mix, soup mix, cookie mix. I even make cute little labels on the computer to put on the top or you can tie some cute fabric around the lid with a string. I found the recipes in a book at the library.

If you like a country look, maybe you could plant herbs in them.
