Dollar Store pregnancy tests

I don't need to use them just yet, but are the Dollar Store pregnancy tests effective and do they seem to give positive results when you are actually pregnant?
I have heard about some people using them but wondered if they even work.

  • Yep...they gave me a result sooner than the pregnancy tests I spent $17 on. :)

  • they worked fine for me, though I never tried testing before I actually missed a period.

  • It's what I used when I was pregnant. It's all really the same thing, just either a stick you pee on, or a cup you pee in then dip the stick in.

  • That's all I have ever used. They are identical to the expensive ones - just much cheaper!

  • They work perfectly fine. When I was surprised by a pregnancy after 14 years of trying, I was in such shock, I wanted to make sure it was right, so I took 12 tests. All from the dollar store, all positive & all were correct. Why spend up to $15 on one when you can get them for 1$ a piece???

  • They are accurate definately but wait a little while i took it really early and the line was so faint i wasnt sure if you wait a little while then you will get a definate line or not =)

  • I used them for both of mine (and a couple of times in between, lol) and go accurate results each time. They are not early response tests, but they're exactly like the name brand tests that aren't early response ones. So basically, if you've missed a period, it's the same as using any other test, including a urine test at the doctor.

  • Thanks girls! I will def. remember that this time as I spent over $50.00 on 3 tests when confirming my first pregnancy!

  • So comforting to hear of your story, ghostwriter777, as we also have 2 beautiful children whom we adopted but have never taken any measures to prevent a pregnancy either and were blessed with a pregnancy just this year that sadly ended in m/c. We were trying for 9 years and are going to pursue this journey yet again and see what happens.....Thank you all for your comments. I will never spend $15.00 - $18.00 ever again on pregnancy tests!
