Would you accept this?

I paid about 700$ for my kitchen table and six chairs three years ago. It was on sale at my job at a furniture store. It is a formal dining set and it will not fit in our new home we are moving into in a week and a half.

Now I am trying to sell it and was trying to get at least $200 out of it, but I have been offered $100.

Here's the kicker... the chairs are going to have to be re-upholstered and the table has some small nicks and scratches here and there from family use with the kids.

Should we just buy the fabric and redo them ourelves or should we just take the offer and be happy we are selling it at all?

  • $100 for a 3 yr old table with same damage and chairs need redone.. I'd counter at $125 and take the $100 if they say no.

  • It's a pretty good offer, especially considering the work that needs to be done

  • check around on craigslist and see what others are asking for a comparable set... then decide. in the past when i have sold things i've been offered half of what i was asking (asking price based on this research ahead of time) and i refused - sold for the price or near price i wanted.

  • I would take the $100. Redoing the chairs can cost another $100.
