Contractions.. What do they feel like?

I know Bad question.. but I didnt feel contractions with my first pregnancy and I didnt lose my mucus plug, But I did lose my mucus plug today, and since then I have had off and On contractions I think where I feel uncomfortable my legs feel heavy and my stomach tightens and is somewhat uncomfortable. I am very pain tolerant(found this out in my first pregnancy and labor) and they dont hurt if they are suppose to.

Please let me know if these are labor contractions or normal and I should wait till they progressively get worse, or my water breaks? Before I attempt to do anything like go to the hospital

  • they sound like contractions but they are not close together at all, relax and wait awhile until they seem constantly closer together. Most people suggestion not heading to the hospital until they are 4-5 minutes apart, last ateast one minute long and that s consistant for an hour (4-1-1). It could be the VERY beginning of labor, or prelabor. Then there will be active labor (where you may get on your hands and knees or need to stop walking during a contraction), and then the transition phase (where you feel like you can't cope anymore with the labor, and need all your attention on each contraction). transition is the hardest part, but the shorted phase as well. Then after that is the pushing phase :) GL

  • if they are every 10 minutes apart shouldn't you be at the hospital? Maybe not I am not sure, but it does sound like they might be contractions. You can always give your doc a call and see what he says
