  • I used to be a shoe manager, and I never got an answer to this! Children's sizes are the same between boys and girls, in many other countries men and women's sizes are the same, but for whatever reason US women's shoes are sized differently than US men's shoes.

  • I think it's because women don't want to be reminded of their waist size ;o)
size 12 sounds much better than a 30 or whatever LOL

  • it is a little irritating...we are tall, me & my girls, with big feet in our ...and we're always having to convert the sizes in our middle child is very athletic, wears a size women's 11...and we are forced to shop in the men's shoe section...especially for the basketball or track shoes.
