  • Many vinegars are used in cooking. I use red wine vinegar in my Sweet & Sour Meatballs, but I have other recipes that call for distilled white vinegar. It really depends on the recipe you're preparing.

  • Exactly as the other poster said. Some recipes call fro red wine vinegar, some for cider vinegar, some for white distilled. It really depends on the recipe. Usually you cannot substitute one for the other. If a recipe says just "vinegar" most likely it is referring to white distilled.

  • Let's see.....In my cabinet I have
    Red Wine Vinegar
    Lemon Vinegar
    Strawberry Vinegar
    Pomegranate Balsamic
    Regular Balsamic
    Garlic Vinegar
    White Vinegar
    Malt vinegar

and I use them all. As stated above it all depends on what your making.
