  • I wouldn't use wire on a cook surface. Bon-Ami is a great cleaning powder and is non-abrasive like Comet which can scratch some surfaces, especially flat-top stoves. Bon-Ami with a dobie style sponge gets up everything! This coming from someone whose family owners a residential cleaning service...

  • Steam works best for everything! Try buying one of those little power steam sprayers advertised on tv. They work great!

  • I use CeramaBryte. You can find it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I've used two other cleaners specifically for smooth cooktops and neither of those were nearly as good as CeramaBryte.

  • Is it a glass cooktop or are you talking about a gas/electric burner cooktop?
Glass cooktop - there are glass cooktop cleaners out there that are RECOMMENDED by the glass and cooktop manufacturers because if you do scratch a glass cooktop, it could crack!

Otherwise - a gentle cleaner like Bar Keepers Friend, Bon Ami, or A baking soda/water paste and then hit is with glass cleaner.

  • OH, and if it is a glass cooktop.......anything baked on can usually be scrapped off with a straight blade razor. And watch when you cook something with a lot of sugars as sugar burnt into the hot eye can actually pit the surface of the glass.

  • I have a black range also. Weiman makes a stove top cleaner that I loooove. It has degreasers in it and always leaves my stove top clean and shiny!
