2 Bumps

My ten month old had an engorged tick in his mouth! Help!!!

We got a dog two days ago and I didnt know that it had ticks. My ten month old found one on the floor and put it in his mouth and bit into it! I got it out. He didnt eat it, but can he get lyme disease or any other diseases? What should I do? I am horrified! Please help me!

  • Yikes~so he ate it..it didn't latch on...still gross..but I think feeding off your child is risker~sorry you had to deal with That~

  • No he can't get lymes disease. That only comes from deer ticks that are very small. He is probably just fine. I am grossed out, but he is mostly likely fine. :-D

  • Did you keep the tick? Did he bite hard enough for anything to come out of the tick? If the tick is still intact, I wouldn't worry as much, I would call the Dr. anyway just to make myself feel better. If he did break the tick, I would have saved it and brought in for some kind of testing. You don't know what it could have been feeding off of and what sorts of diseases other animals or possibly humans had. Get the dog some Advantix.
