  • Yes. It has been proven, the younger you are when you begin the learn a new language the easier it is to become fluent. It make a person more marketable in the workplace, and I think it helps you to learn other things.

  • Yes, my kids are in french immersion school. It's our other official language here in Canada, so it makes sense for us. I hope the kids want to learn another language (or more than one). My older boys are 12 and 7 and are both pretty fluent in french and my youngest will be going to the same school in a couple years.

The world is rapidly shrinking and knowing more than one language can only help my kids in whatever they choose to do in their lives. And once you've learned a second language it's easier to learn more.

  • There was a girl in my high school graduating class that was fluent in 5 languages. She ended up getting a full ride scholarship to a very elite private college.

  • Yes, most other industrial countries have their children learn multiple languages. However my husband and I are not fluent in any other language. So we are teaching them bits and pieces of spanish, french and german. I am really stressing the french.
