  • I have a spellbook written by Raymond Buckland that includes christian and secular spells together. And a lot of the christian spells are drawn from the book of Psalms, because these cover such a wide range of emotion, from love to hatred. Want to curse your enemies? Psalms has a verse for that. Want to be protected from darkness? Psalms. Proverbs has no power in it. It's a collection of useless platitudes that NO human being can live up to. But Psalms!!! Yeah, they can pack a wicked punch!!

  • i like Proverbs b/c they can be used w/o someone knowing youre quoting the Bible haha. the number of times ive quoted Proverbs to someone who was anti-Bible and they went "oh thats really smart! where'd you hear that?"...well its a lot. i think of Proverbs as the Western take on Confucius' sayings. plus, its a much shorter read, so its easier to find what you're looking for.

    but i really prefer Ecclesiastes.
