nipple piercings and breastfeeding?

hubby has been suggesting the idea that i get mine done...since i've had mastitis in the past, and when i do BF the kids as newborns, my nipples crack and bleed like most do when starting out...but i'm worried that because i've had issues with them in the past, if there's a higher risk for infection for myself...but we're not planning on TTC for like ohhh another 4-5 idk if i'd even still have them in, if i were to get them done.

also, as for the actual nursing goes, i've heard it can decrease the milk supply and makes it leak all over the place... if anyone has had experience in this area, i'd love to hear your take on it! thanks!

  • If it is something that you want to do than there is no reason not to all if you decide to have a new baby you will have to take them out when you nurse, but it shouldn't affect milk production because milk production is all about hormones and stimulation.

  • It didn't effect my milk production (had issues with it, but that was due to hormones) but you do have to be a little creative, because milk does and will come out of the holes the piercings go through!
