A relative has a terminal illness and asks you to help them end their life. Helping them commit suicide is against the law but your relative begs you. Would you assist with their suicide?

  • Yes, and have assisted in end of life care and decisions both on a professional and personal level.

Very detailed advance health care directives and a health care advocates are absolute necessities. In addition, every close family member should know and understand your wishes. Make those wishes CRYSTAL CLEAR.

  • I understand the pro-side to this issue, but being a christian I could not aid someone in the ultimate sin : suicide.

  • Yes I would. I watched a movie one time called "It's My Party" with Eric Roberts, Julia Roberts brother. Anyway he was in the final stages of Aids and was ending his life. I have never cried so much during a movie. I totally "got it".

  • I can't really begin to imagine how I would react in this situation. But where I stand right now.. No. I could not be the one responsible for my loved one's life.

  • But Nynne- they are not killing themselves, you are the one committing the 'sin' of murder if you end their life.

  • I could not assist because of the risks to my family. However, I fully support a person's right to choose suicide.
