Chicken pox or something else?

My DS has a rash that is in his armpits and in his diaper area. It just started so it's just a bunch of tiny red bumps all over. Looks like it's starting to creep up his back a bit. Could this be chicken pox or something else?

It has been humid here the last few days which we aren't used to here in AZ. And I have been re-introducing milk products back into his diet, could that be it?

  • It could be a simple heat rash small babies have a tendency to get those do your best to keep him cool. Chicken pox itch and also look more like pimples and if hasn't been exposed to chicken pox it wil not be that in most cases.

  • Most likely heat rash by what you described, but if he has been exposed to CP then I would call the doc tomorrow. You usually get fever with CP though too not just the ithcy spots. If he had a similar reaction to milk products before it could be that too.

  • could be just heat rash try cool baths and see if it helps. You can also try using a liquid baby power on him that will help also. I say liquid because you won't have the powder flying in the air for him to breath and cause more problems.

  • Stop the milk and see what happens. Doesn't sound like chicken pox though. Could also just be heat rash.
