Does anyone know what an IGE is?

My pulmonary doctor is ordering that I have some blood work done for my Asthma. He wants me to have an IGE (I have no clue what an IGE is)! Does anyone know what that test is for?

  • Allergen-specific IgE antibody test is done to screen for an allergy. It is a blood draw.

  • I meant to add your doctor may think you have an allergic asthma. This is an easy way to rule out certain allergies and to better help with your treatment.
