  • is there someone else in the family that is a liar? I swear sometimes its genetic.... call your 8 year old , make them be responsible for their lying - talk about feelings when you get lied to

  • There have to be consequences for lying, just like there are consequences for other behavioral choices. Lying is a choice. If it is a choice that is "rewarded" in any way, it will continue. If the consequences are negative, eventually the lies will stop.

  • What type of lying is he doing? Making up stories? Telling you he did something when he didn't (vice versa)? To get out of trouble?

There is so much to be said about why he's lying when you look at what he's lying about and to whom.
