When did your children stop taking naps?

DS's are 5.5 and 4.5
I'm contemplating getting rid of DS1's nap when he turns 6. They take about a 2 hour nap everyday. I thought we'd get to a point where they'd just stop taking naps ...but so far they pretty much always nap. I don't want to rush DS1 ...but idk. It would be kinda nice if he could stop taking naps.

Thoughts?

  • HA! My son stopped napping about when he started walking, so barely 1. My daughter napped until about 3 and then started again during kindergarten, but I think school just wore her out. She stopped again once she got used to the schedule. Naps. I wish.

  • DS stopped taking naps when he turned 3. Not my choice, believe me. I miss that quiet, alone time. I would cherish the fact that they still nap and not stop it. Let them do it naturally.

  • My kids stopped taking naps at around 4-5, but we still have a "quiet time" right after lunch where they have to go to their room and read a book of their choice for 30 minutes. They are 8, 10, and 12. My 20 month old and 2 week old still nap then, so it gives me some peace and quiet, which is nice!
